About
Spectra Vox is a singer songwriter hailing from the North East of Scotland. She currently lives 60 miles off the west coast of Scotland on the Isle of Lewis with her daughter and her dog Jack.
Spectra wrote her first song at the age of 8 years, and has continued to write music on and off since. Her style has elements of the genres dream pop, art rock, experimental pop, and, dark pop; and focuses on themes of tragic romance, melancholia, and unconventional subjects.
Her influences include David Bowie, Kate Bush, Tori Amos,Stevie Nicks, Blondie and Siouxsie and the Banshees. Since her early teens, Spectra has been involved in the goth/alternative subculture and this has had a notable effect on her musical style and image.
Currently she focuses on song writing, and has worked on projects with various local artists. She is keen to continue exploring her creative vision, and writing for others.
Spectra is also a trained jewellery designer specialising in silver smithing and other metal work. Ater being taught at Greys School of Art she has maintained her skills by creating commission pieces or fantastical bold works which can occasional be seen in her music videos.
